A container 10 for solvent such as one containing 55 parts chlorothene, 15 parts methylene chloric, 5 parts isopropyl alcohol and 25 parts petroleum ether, is supported by a column 14 and is fitted in its top 18 and bottom 26 with plugs 32 and 40 respectively. Plug 40 is formed with two vertical blind bores 42 which communicate at their upper ends with the interior of container 10 and at their lower ends with horizontal open passages 44. Two rods 52, which slideably pass through respective bores 48 in plug 32 are biased downwardly by respective springs 70 sealingly engaging their pointed lower ends with the chamfered upper ends 46 of bores 42. The upper ends of rods 52 are interconnected by a yoke 54 pivoted by a pin 60 to the armature of a solenoid 16. Rods 52 slide through bores 68 in a block 66 rigid with a rod 62 fixed in the plugs 32 and 42. A fixed structure 20, adapted to support a film cartridge 87 made from polystyrene plastics, comprises two upper nozzles 90 and two lower nozzles 82 connected by respective ducts 94 to the passages 44. A loaded cartridge 87 is positioned on structure 20 to engage a microswitch contact plunger 96, whereby solenoid 16 is energised via an electric timer to raise the rods 52 for a predetermined period of time e.g. 2/10ths of a second. A predetermined quantity of liquid thereby flows from nozzles 90, 92 along the edges of the cartridge to seal the latter. |
