A pharmaceutical composition having cholesterol-lowering activity comprises, in unit dosage form, from 0.1-1 g. of an indole derivative of the formula wherein X is halogen and R is H or C 1 -C 4 alkyl (or, when R is H, pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof with organic or inorganic bases) and a pharmaceutical carrier. The compositions may be in the form of a nutritive preparation or dietary supplement and may contain casein, vitamins, salts of glycerophosphoric acid, choline, inositol and methionine. |
