摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reactive power compensating device capable of dealing with cooperative operation and steep voltage variation even if a plurality of reactive power compensating devices are installed in one electric power system. <P>SOLUTION: The reactive power compensating device performs constant voltage control which supplies a reactive power to an electric power system so that a system voltage may be held constant. The reactive power compensating device supplies a reactive power so that the system voltage becomes within a setting width (V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>-V<SB POS="POST">L</SB><system voltage<V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>+V<SB POS="POST">H</SB>) which has respective widths in the upper and lower sides of a reference voltage setting value V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>, and changes the reference voltage setting value V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>gradually by comparing an average value &Sigma; at sampling-time T<SB POS="POST">S</SB>of the system voltage with the reference voltage setting value V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>so that the system voltage may become within a setting width (V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>-V<SB POS="POST">L</SB><system voltage<V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>+V<SB POS="POST">H</SB>) of the reference voltage setting value V<SB POS="POST">C</SB>.
