The method involves weaving a fabric of warp threads (2) and weft threads (3) i.e. high-strength polyester filament yarns, with an active edge. The fabric is formed with a pattern (6) comprising a weft gap (4) and a woven band fabric section (5). The weft gap is formed by unilaterally binding the warp threads and the weft threads located at extreme right of the active edge. The weft gap is produced reciprocally by tying outer warp threads at an edge of a fringe band (1) with the weft threads. Movement of the outer warp threads is controlled in a central region between the outer warp threads. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a fringe band (2) a fringe band manufacturing device for a weaving machine, comprising a control device.
