<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a maintenance device capable of suppressing the leakage of a liquid from a nozzle and closing a nozzle opening, and to provide a liquid ejection apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The maintenance device includes a cap 45 with a bottom in a box shape which can form a closed space between a tip opening edge 49a and a nozzle forming face 19a having, thereon, the nozzle opening 34 for ejecting ink by allowing the tip opening edge 49a to abut on the nozzle forming face 19a so as to cover the nozzle opening 34, and a cam mechanism 46 which relatively moves the cap 45 to the nozzle forming face 19a. The cap 45 contains a closing member 52 which can close the nozzle opening 34 by abutting on the nozzle forming face 19a. The cap is configured so that the cap is deformed so as to reduce a volume of the closed space when the closing member 52 is brought into close proximity to the nozzle forming face 19a under a condition that the tip opening edge is in contact with the nozzle forming face 19a. The cam mechanism 46 brings the closing member 52 into close proximity to the nozzle forming face 19a to allow it to abut on the nozzle forming face after the tip opening edge 49a of the cap 45 abuts on the nozzle forming face 19a. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
