The vehicle has an electric machine (14) for driving a wheel (12), and comprising a rotor (16) and a stator (18) with an electrical stator winding (22) for producing a magnetic field to rotate the rotor. An electronic unit (26) is coupled with the stator winding for converting an electrical direct voltage (UB) into alternating voltage (Uab) to supply the alternating voltage to the electric machine. A supplementary electronic unit (46) converts the electrical direct voltage into another alternating voltage (U1) that is redundantly supplied to the electric machine. The electric machine is formed as a permanent-moved synchronous machine. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating an electric machine in a motor vehicle.
