<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for reducing an amount of language display data in a storage device. <P>SOLUTION: About a plurality of command buttons simultaneously displayed on a display according to selection of a user, partial command buttons are changed over from a first language to a second language according to a language changeover of the user, and the other command buttons are maintained as in the standard first language. Accordingly, in a recording device, a plurality of pieces of language display data are prepared with respect to character strings of the partial command buttons, and only preparation of the language display data of the standard first language is needed, with respect to character strings of the other command buttons.
