<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multilayer ceramic capacitor which has high dielectric constant and is excellent in DC bias characteristics and DC aging characteristics while satisfying X5R characteristics in EIA standards. <P>SOLUTION: A dielectric layer 5 is made of a dielectric porcelain comprising crystal particles 9 which are made of barium titanate as a main component and each of which contains 0.4-1.0 atom% calcium and contains magnesium and at least one kind of rare earth element selected from among, yttrium, dysprosium, holmium, terbium and ytterbium. The crystal particles 9 comprise a core portion 9a having a crystal structure of tetragonal system and a shell portion 9b having a crystal structure of cubic system, which surrounds the core portion 9a and in which the magnesium and at least one kind of added component selected from the rare earth element are made solute, wherein the average thickness t of the shell portion 9b which is calculated based on X-ray diffraction information is 5-15 nm and the average particle size of the crystal particles is 0.15-0.4 μm. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
