PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging element driving unit whereby an imaging element adopting a system for reading stored electric charges in photoelectric conversion sections after being transferred through a transfer section can reduce intruded noises when the stored electric charges are read. SOLUTION: The imaging element driving unit includes: the imaging element wherein the photoelectric conversion sections receive an object image, convert the image into electric charges, store the electric charges, and the electric charges are sequentially outputted as electric signals via the transfer section; a drive means for outputting a clock used to drive the imaging element; an image processing means for controlling the drive means and processing the electric signals read from the imaging element; and a whole control means making communication with the image processing means to control the drive means via the image processing means, and the whole control means does not make communication with the image processing means while the stored electric charges stored by the photoelectric conversion sections are transferred to the transfer section.
