<p>Disclosed is a method for assembling an optical connector, which makes it possible to prevent deterioration in operability. When an optical connector is assembled, first of all an optical cord (2) is passed through a rear housing (8), a covering retaining member (9), a fixing member (10) and a boot (11), a covering (4) at the tip portion of the optical cord (2) is removed, and an optical fibre core (3) and a tension-resistant fibre (5) are exposed. Further, a dust cap (16A) fitted with a handle is mounted on a ferrule member (6) that holds an incorporated fibre. The incorporated fibre and the optical fibre core (3) are then fused and connected by means of a fusion splicer. A plug housing (7) is then assembled with the rear housing (8), with the dust cap (16A) fitted with a handle still mounted on the ferrule member (6). Then, the covering (4) and the tension-resistant fibre (5) are fixed on the rear housing (8) by the covering retaining member (9) and the fixing member (10), and the boot (11) is mounted on the fixing member (10). Finally, the handle section (16a) of the dust cap (16A) fitted with a handle is cut off.</p> |
