<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner usable and capable of safely and effectively reducing or inactivating mold, bacteria or viruses to purify air and further effectively reducing mold and bacteria or inactivating viruses and moreover changing the magnetic force of a filter. <P>SOLUTION: The filter 1 is formed with a magnetic field by carrying magnetic ferrite 12 of fine particles on a nonwoven fabric 11. Suspended matter 2 floating in the air crosses the magnetic field when passing through the filter 1 or when collected. An electric potential difference arises in the suspended matter 2 by the action of electromagnetic induction, and an electric current flows to decompose and eliminate cells. Magnetic ferrite 12 serving as a magnetic substance is carried on the nonwoven fabric 11. The mold and bacteria are thereby reduced or annihilated more effectively, or the viruses can be inactivated. Voltage is applied to a coil 7, and an electric current is allowed to flow to generate an external magnetic field.
