The invention relates to use of monovalent antibody polypeptide that inhibits CD40 or CD40L activity for the manufacture of a medicament for treating or preventing autoimmune disease symptoms. The invention further relates to a composition comprising the antibody polypeptide and a second antibody polypeptide which binds a ligand other than CD40L, as well to a sustained release pharmaceutical composition.
