<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a simple structure LED that enables a fillet to be formed asymmetrically due to resin crawl-up on a lead frame at lens formation. <P>SOLUTION: An LED 10 comprises a pair of lead frames 11 and 12, an LED chip 13 to be mounted on a chip mount area 11a at the top of either lead frame, and a lens made of transparent resin formed in a way that it surrounds the top of both lead frames and the LED chip.
