PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily perform setting for a microphone configuration or the like suitable for recording under various recording modes, in a recording apparatus which performs recording using a plurality of microphones. SOLUTION: The recording apparatus includes a plurality of switches SWL, SWC, SWR for controlling ON/OFF of connection for a plurality of microphones 1L, 1C, 1R, and a recording means for performing recording based on sound signals from the microphones connected by these switches. The recording apparatus further includes selection means 6, 7 for receiving a selection from among a plurality of predetermined recording modes. For each recording mode, contents of ON/OFF control of the switches and various signal processes are made correspondent beforehand. When performing recording, the switches are controlled in accordance with control contents corresponding to the recording mode selected by the selection means. An equalizer 4 or an encoder 5 applies the signal process corresponding to the recording mode to sound signals from the microphones connected by the switches, thereby performing recording.
