A tool tip of a tapping tool is formed as a ball (6). The tapping or hammering process of the surface layer takes place in two passages with increasing energy. The method comprises a bearing metal alloy layer or a wear protective layer on a surface of a component using a spraying process, and post-treating the component with the surface layer subsequently by tapping or hammering process using a hammer head for recompression and hardening, where the tapping or hammering process of the component takes place with an average energy input or an average deformation energy of above 100 kJ/m 2>. A tool tip of a tapping tool is formed as a ball (6). The tapping or hammering process of the surface layer takes place in two passages with increasing energy, and is carried out so long until the porosity of the surface layer is dropped below 1.5 Vol.%. The tapping process has a tapping frequency of more than 20 Hz. A ball diameter of the tapping tool is 2-50 mm and the area of the impression is adjusted to 0.5-6 mm 2>. A substrate of the thermally spraying layer (2) is a cylinder liner in an internal combustion engine, a connecting rod or a bearing shell.
