PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new liquid detergent builder which is highly compatible with a surfactant and gives transparent liquid detergents having extremely excellent detergency, a new liquid detergent containing the builder and a liquid detergent containing an acrylic acid-based polymer (salt) having excellent clay dispersibility and good compatibility with the surfactant. SOLUTION: The liquid detergent includes 0.5 mass% or more of the liquid detergent builder containing the acrylic acid-based polymer (salt) having a weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of 500 to 4,500. (1) The acrylic acid-based polymer (salt) has a sulfonic acid group at a polymer terminal and (2) the acrylic acid-based polymer (salt) is produced by using sodium hydrogen sulfite.
