HYDROGEN PURIFIER MODULE AND METHOD FOR FORMING THE SAME

A hydrogen purifier utilizing a hydrogen-permeable membrane (4) to purify hydrogen from mixed gases containing hydrogen is disclosed, with improved sealing means where the seals are formed by first melting a metal with a low temperature melting point, and then allowing the metal to form a subsequent alloy which has a melting temperature above the operational temperature of the purifier. The improved seal (3b, 6c, 12b, 16b) allows for the fabrication of hydrogen purifiers at lower temperatures than conventional methods such as brazing. Various metallurgical combinations and methods for achieving the seal are disclosed.
