The device (1) has stationarily positioned baseplate (2) and a tensioning roller locked at the baseplate in opposite direction and readjusted in a pre-determined re-adjusting direction depending upon stress. The roller is held on sliding carriages (3) that are displaced in a limited manner in a longitudinal guidance unit of the base plate along readjusting direction. The sliding carriages comprise a profiling unit (19) arranged in the longitudinal guidance unit. The sliding carriages are impinged against the base plate in the readjusting direction by an energy storage (12).
