PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a snack food having improved texture and produced by rolling a stock dough to a thin sheet, forming to a prescribed form, heating the formed dough and frying in an oil. SOLUTION: The snack food containing spaces in an expanded chip is produced by grinding a kneaded dough material by a mill having a gap of 0.01-0.02 cm, rolling the ground dough to a thickness of 1.0-3.0 cm, molding the dough to a prescribed chip form, heating the molded dough at 300-400°C and frying the heated dough at 195-205°C in a fryer to expand the chip-formed dough having a thickness of 1.0-3.0 cm.
