<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a porous material having a periodic structure. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A solution 21 containing a polymer and a solvent is discharged onto a surface 36s of a polymer film 36. Thereby, a coating film comprising the solution 21 is formed on the surface 36s. When a thickness of the coating film is a critical thickness or less, dewetting of the solution occurs on the surface 36s, and the coating film becomes a dewetting material 23 having dewetting pores 23a. Wet air is blown to a surface 23s of the dewetting material 23. The solvent is evaporated from the dewetting material 23. Water drops are formed on the surface 23s by dew condensation. Dry air is blown to the surface 23s of the dewetting material 23. The solvent and the water drops are evaporated from the dewetting material 23. Thereby, it is possible to produce a porous material whose surface includes the dewetting pores 23a formed by the dewetting of the solution and the second pores formed by using each water drop as a template.
