#CMT# #/CMT# The sensor (6) has infra-red detection units provided with wide and narrow vision field optics (12, 13) for detecting presence of infrared emission sources and locating the sources along a pre-defined coordinate system, respectively. A common operation, communication and control processor is coupled to a common communication transceiver for connecting the processor to a data communication network. The detection units are mechanically movable in an independent manner. #CMT# : #/CMT# An independent claim is also included for a method for providing a location sensor. #CMT#USE : #/CMT# Infrared location sensor e.g. active or passive infrared location sensor, for use on a movable entity (all claimed) e.g. movable machine such as movable robot, for detecting location of infrared emission sources.
