An applicator (1) for a tampon comprises: an outer tube (3) having a large-diameter section (3A) for storing the tampon (2); and a small-diameter section (3B) which is positioned further on the base side than the large-diameter section (3A) and which has a diameter smaller than that of the large-diameter section (3A) and a push-out member (4) which is slidably inserted into the opening (6) at the rear end of the outer tube (3), and which can push out the tampon (2) stored in the large-diameter section (3A) from an opening (7) at the front end of the outer tube (3) by pressing the tampon from the rear side. At least one opening (10) is formed in the outer surface of the large-diameter section (3A).
