<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent degradation of display quality, by suppressing the occurrence of contact failure between common wiring and a semipermeable cathode, and preventing sub-pixel area reduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A self-luminous element includes a substrate 1, a plurality of first electrode layers 21 formed on the substrate at predetermined intervals, a bank core part 4a formed on the substrate between the first electrode layers, the common wiring 3 formed on the bank core part, a bank side wall 4b formed to cover a side face of the bank core part and to sandwich the common wiring, its upper surface being in the same plane as an upper surface of the common wiring, a light emitting layer 23 formed above the first electrode layers and a second electrode layer 25 formed above the light emitting layer to cover the bank side wall and the common wiring.
