<p>The invention relates to an aluminium-based grain refiner containing zinc, titanium and carbon, synthesised by the melting of aluminium and the subsequent addition of titanium, zinc and carbon. The microstructure of the mother alloy consists of an alpha aluminium matrix, an intermetallic phase of TiAl3 and fine particles of a ternary titanium-zinc-carbon compound. The minimum titanium content is 1% and the maximum 20%, the minimum carbon content is 0.01% (100 ppm) and the maximum 3%, and the zinc content is equal to, or higher than, 1%.</p> |
