The device has a microprocessor, a data memory, a keyboard, a display and an interface, where a prefabricated list of playable music titles is stored in the memory and displayed on the display. A list of played titles provided by selecting from the list is stored in the memory and transmitted to a clearing center i.e. Society for musical performing and mechanical reproduction rights, over an interface by long-distance data transmission. The list of playable titles is rerecorded in the device over the interface e.g. Universal serial businterface or Bluetooth.
