<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper transport apparatus, correcting the attitude of paper in the process of transport by temporarily delaying transport of paper. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This paper transport apparatus includes a paper transport path formed of a plurality of roller sets, wherein a predetermined roller set in the paper transport path is a delaying roller set, and after the leading edge of paper transported from the upstream reaches the roller set, first the roller sets does not cause corotation until a predetermined waiting time elapses to thereby transport the paper. The delaying roller set includes a main driving roller and a driven roller corotational with the main driving roller. The main driving roller includes a rotating shaft and a roller body rotatably pivoted to the rotating shaft, wherein a first projection is formed on an end face at one side of the roller body, and a shaft surface of one end part projected from the end face of the rotating shaft is provided with a second projection formed to first abut on the first projection when the rotating shaft is driven to rotate, and then push the roller body through the first projection to be rotated in synchronization with the rotating shaft.
