<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power generation stoppage detecting system capable of correctly detecting the power generation stop state of an AC power generator for vehicle equipped with a rotor having a permanent magnet. <P>SOLUTION: A power generation stoppage detecting circuit 212 of the power generation controller 2 for a vehicle has a first power generation stop state detecting means for detecting the power generation stop state of the AC power generator 1 for a vehicle, based on the phase voltage generated in an armature winding 101 of the AC power generator 1 for a vehicle having a rotor which has a permanent magnet embedded therein; and a second power generation stoppage state detecting means for detecting the power generation stoppage state of the AC power generator 1 for a vehicle, when an excitation current value applied to an excitation winding 102 is not more than a first reference value.
