The invention relates to communication engineering. The use of the inventive device for identifying a plugboard port via which a network device is connected, makes it possible to identify the port or a cable, which is connected thereto and via which data is transmitted by the network device, by receiving the magnetic component of spurious electromagnetic radiation. For this purpose, each of connection sensors, with which the plugboard is provided, is designed in such a way that it is enabled to receive spurious electromagnetic radiation signals; each connection sensor is situated near the corresponding port of the plugboard at a distance sufficient for receiving the signals of spurious electromagnetic radiation occurred near the cable path of said port during the transmission of corresponding signals via said cable; and the specific port of the plugboard is identified by means of a data processing unit, to which all the connection sensors are connected, upon the signal received from the connection sensor corresponding to said port when said connection sensor receives the spurious electromagnetic radiation. The sensing element of the sensor is made on a inductance coil.
