摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the degree of flexibility as to an installation place while securing shock absorbing performance. SOLUTION: A shock absorber 1 is provided by partitioning and forming a first fluid chamber 15 and a second fluid chamber 17 having an accumulator 35 in a cylinder 3 sealed with a working fluid, and arranging a flow passage 19 communicating both fluid chambers 15 and 17 between the first fluid chamber 15 and the second fluid chamber 17, and supporting a piston 5 in the first fluid chamber 15 so as to be capable of protruding and retreating, and making the working fluid flow to the second fluid chamber 17 by pressurizing the working fluid by the immersion of the piston 5. The piston 5 is formed of multistage piston bodies 37 and 39, and changes the piston area by integrally operating a front stage piston body 39 with the next stage piston body 39 in the middle of the immersion.
