PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system, an apparatus, a method and a program, for detecting a head position, widening a detectable range of the head position of an occupant and detecting the head position precisely. SOLUTION: The position detecting system 2 which detects the head position of a driver, comprises: four distance measuring sensors 6 which are arranged such that portions of their detection ranges are overlapped mutually, and measure distances from the head of the sitting driver; and a position detecting device 5 which selects three measurement distances among distances measured by respective distance measuring sensors 6 and calculates the head position of the driver, based on the selected measurement distances.
