The arrangement has a hollow cylindrical shaped centering unit (4) e.g. spring steel and pin, placed between mounting flanges of an exhaust manifold (1). The flanges connect a cylinder head with inlet pipes (11-14) that emerge on a main outlet pipe (15). Centering seating (21) formed in the cylinder head (2) receives the centering unit. The centering unit is maintained between the flanges by elastic expansion such that the centering unit retrieves dilatation gap of the flanges when the manifold is subjected to thermal stress.
