An apparatus and a method for controlling chromatic aberration compensation of an optical pickup are provided to prevent the wavelength of a blue laser beam from shifting by performing chromatic aberration compensation in switching a playback mode into a write mode. An apparatus for controlling chromatic aberration compensation of an optical pickup comprises: a collimator lens(12) for converting a diffused light laser beam into a collimated light laser beam; a chromatic aberration compensation device(13) for compensating the chromatic aberration of the collimated light laser beam; an objective lens(14) condensing the collimated light laser beam, in which the chromatic aberration is corrected, into a beam spot in a record film of an optical disc; and a control unit blocking the driving voltage applied in the chromatic aberration compensation device in switching a write mode into a playback mode. |
