PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging poor ink supply of an inkjet serial printer which can detect poor ink supply of color ink by using a general-purpose sensor. SOLUTION: A first and a second check patterns 31 and 32 are printed to an upper end right edge part of a recording paper 5, and a third and a fourth check patterns 33 and 34 are printed to a lower end right edge part. The first and third check patterns 31 and 33 are printed by using an ink nozzle for black so that a printing color becomes black, and the second and fourth check patterns 32 and 34 are printed by using each ink nozzle for cyan, magenta and yellow so that a printing color becomes black. When the color ink is involved in poor ink supply, any of the first-fourth check patterns 31-34 is not printed or the printing color becomes not black. The poor ink supply can be detected by taking in image data of the first-fourth check patterns 31-34 by a color image scanner 23 and detecting a printing state. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
