PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyimide film, by which the thin and long film excellent in heat resistance and mechanical properties can stably be produced. SOLUTION: This method for producing the polyimide film having a thickness of≤7.5μm is characterized by superposing separately prepared narrow easily adhesive polyimide films produced by disposing adhesive layers on polyimide films on both the lateral side portions of a polyimide precursor film to be clipped with a film end-fixing clip tenter in an imidization process and then clip-fixing the superposed portions with the clips.
