PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an intake pipe length variable device capable of attaining miniaturization and compaction and improving vibration proof and reliability while increasing engine output by effectively utilizing an intake air inertia effect in all rotation ranges. SOLUTION: In the intake pipe length varying device for the engine for varying the length of an intake pipe 2 connected to a cylinder of the engine, the intake pipe 2 is formed of a fixed pipe 2A and a movable pipe 2B movably fitted to an inner periphery of the fixed pipe 2A, an opening 2a is formed at an mid-height position of the fixed pipe 2A, and the movable pipe 2B is moved according to at least engine rotation speed to open and close the opening 2a. The length and inner diameter of the intake pipe 2 when the opening 2a formed in the fixed pipe 2A totally closed by the movable pipe 2B are set at a value for maximal intake efficiency in low rotation ranges.
