PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an auscultation instrument capable of abutting the tip of probe head on the measurement object simply and correctly with single hand even the object is in the dark and small place. SOLUTION: The auscultation instrument comprises a rod part 2, the tip of which is a contact probe and the base part of which is fitted with an ear pad 3. On the outer periphery surface of center point of the rod part 2, an illumination device 1 (illumination means) is mounted. The illumination device 1 is constituted of a plurality of LED lamps 10 as the light sources, and these LED lamps 10 are mounted on the lamp holding member 11. The light from the LED lamp 10 irradiates forward of the rod part 2, therefore, even the diagnostic place of the machine etc., are deep inside of the small and dark slit, the tip of probe (probe head) of the rod part 2 can be correctly led and abutted to the diagnostic part.
