<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst for simultaneously catalytically purifying and removing nitrogen oxide and unburnt carbon contained in the exhaust gas of a diesel engine in a wide temperature range even in the presence of sulfur oxide. <P>SOLUTION: The catalyst for catalytically reducing nitrogen oxide in the exhaust gas of the diesel engine using unburnt carbon contained in the exhaust gas of the diesel engine is composed of an alumina (a) or alumina (b) on which ions and/or an oxide of at least one transition metal selected from the period 4 IV of the periodic table is supported or alumina (c) on which aluminate of at least one transition metal selected from the period 4 of the periodic table is supported. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
