PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium information reader capable of reading not only a first surface of a recording medium fed by an automatic document feeder but also information recorded on a second surface of the recording medium in a quiescent condition. SOLUTION: A fixed CIS (contact image sensor) head 48 optically reads an image formed on one surface of an original fed from an original placing tray 16. A CIS head 52 performs scanning to optically read an image formed on the other surface of the original placed on the original placing tray 16. Thus, the images formed on both surfaces of the original set on the original playing tray 16 can be read by using the CIS head 48 and the CIS head 52. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
