PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fumaric acid ester polymer particle free from coagulation trouble and a method for producing the fumaric acid ester polymer particle. SOLUTION: The invention provides a fumaric acid ester polymer particle composed of a specific fumaric acid ester residue and having a number-average molecular weight of 60,000-500,000 determined by GPC, an average particle diameter of 1-500μm and a residual amount of unreacted fumaric acid ester monomer of≤1 wt.%, and a method for producing the fumaric acid ester polymer particle by washing a fumaric acid ester polymer particle obtained by the suspension polymerization of a specific fumaric acid ester with a solvent which does not dissolve the polymer particle and dissolves the fumaric acid ester, washing with an aqueous solvent and drying the product.
