PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic excellent in safety and having anti-inflammatory effect, by incorporating water-soluble extracts of mangosteen fruits into the cosmetic as active ingredients. SOLUTION: The cosmetic contains water-soluble extracts of mangosteen fruits as active ingredients. The water-soluble extracts are extracted by using a mixture solvent of one or more of water, alcohols (methanol, ethanol, 1,3-butylene glycol, propylene glycol and the like), acetone and the like, and they may be extracted under heating or at room temperature.
