PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a belt type continuously variable transmission capable of inhibiting the increase of drive loss of an oil pump. SOLUTION: The belt type continuously variable transmission 1-1 is provided with a working fluid supply valve 70 permitting only supply of working fluid to a primary hydraulic pressure chamber 55 and rotating as one unit with the primary pulley 50, a valve open close device 80 controlling permission and prohibition of discharge of the working fluid from the primary hydraulic pressure chamber 55 by the working fluid supply discharge valve 70 and discharge of the working fluid from the primary hydraulic pressure chamber 55, and rotating as one unit with the primary pulley 50, and a discharge flow rate control valve 90 controlling discharge flow rate of the working fluid discharged from the primary hydraulic pressure chamber 55 by the working fluid supply valve 70 and rotating as one unit with the primary pulley 50. The valve open close device 80 applies valve open direction pressing force (piston valve open direction pressing force F4) in an open direction of the working fluid supply valve 70 on a valve element 71 of the working fluid supply valve 70 when the working fluid is supplied to the primary hydraulic pressure chamber 55.
