PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce harsh sounds in use and improve the durability of a vacuum cleaner in a suction device for the vacuum cleaner. SOLUTION: This telescopic suction device consisting of a plurality of pipes A10, B11 and C12 having different pipe diameters is so formed that the plurality of pipes A10, B11 and C12 have holes 15, 16 and 17 around their outer circumferences respectively, and the total opening area of the holes become larger than the minimum channel area of the pipe. This constitution can suck air from the plurality of holes and lower the velocity of the suction air from the tip of the suction device of the vacuum cleaner to reduce the harsh sounds. Even if dust is clogged at the tip of the suction device for the vacuum cleaner, this constitution can secure sufficient suction air from the plurality of holes and eliminate an unnatural force from being applied to an electric blower and a hose so as to improve the durability.
