The invention relates to a longitudinal car control system. The inventive system comprises an automatic control system consisting of between one and three nested loops, namely a first acceleration loop (a, 8-10), a second speed loop (v, 5, 6, 10) and a third distance loop (d, 2, 3, 4). According to the invention, said three values (a, v, d) can be used for the effective longitudinal control of the car, regardless of the environment.
