An electrical connector has at least one contact comprising a wire bent back upon itself to form two limbs (1 and) 2 (Fig. 1, not shown), mounted within a cavity 24 in an insulating channelled block 15 so that one limb projects into the channel 14 for bearing on a planar member, e.g. a printed circuit board 22, inserted in the channel, and a free end 6 of this limb is arranged to engage with a shoulder 26 formed by a surface of the cavity adjacent a slot 25 in the channelled block 15 through which part of the limb projects from the cavity into the channel. The other limb 2 is rigidly secured in a socket of a support member to which electrical leads are wrapped round or soldered. A plurality of such contacts are arranged in two parallel rows on either side of the printed circuit board (Fig. 7, not shown). The electrical contacts can be of beryllium copper, phosphor bronze or brass wire and other forms and shaped free ends 6 are described (Figs. 1-6, 9 and 10, not shown).
