An RF pulse applying method and an MRI(Magnetic Resonance Imaging) apparatus are provided to reduce artifacts in a medical image by increasing a signal transmission level of an MRI signal. An MRI apparatus includes a bore inside a magnetic assembly(101). A gradation coil is connected to a gradation coil driving circuit(103). A transmitter coil is connected to an RF(Radio Frequency) power amplifier(104). A constant magnetic coil is connected to a constant magnetic source(102). A receiver coil is connected to a preposition amplifier(105). A sequence memory circuit(108) controls the gradation coil driving circuit based on a memorized pulse sequence and generates a gradation magnetic field. A gate modulation circuit(109) converts a carrier output signal from an RF oscillation circuit to a pulse signal and applies the converted result to the RF power amplifier as an RF pulse. A receiver(112) converts an NMR(Nuclear Magnetic Resonance) signal to a digital signal and outputs the result to the calculator. The calculator reads a digital signal from the receiver and generates an MRI image. A display device(106) displays an image or a message.
