摘要 A precharge circuit for a passive matrix type organic light emitting diode(OLED) and a driving method thereof are provided to enhance brightness representing performance of the OLED by reducing the difference between precharge current amounts for low and high grayscale values. A precharge circuit for a passive matrix type organic light emitting diode includes an output transformer(550), a bias voltage supply unit(520), a precharge bias current amplification stage(530), and a precharge current adder(540). The output transformer modulates the pulse magnitude of an image signal, which is inputted from a signal processor according to a PWM(Pulse Width Modulation) scheme based on the grayscale of the image signal and outputs the result to a data line, which is connected to the OLED. The bias voltage supply unit supplies a bias voltage to the output transformer. The precharge bias current amplification stage amplifies the precharge current, which is supplied to the OLED, at a predetermined ratio. The precharge current adder supplies an additional precharge current having a predetermined magnitude to the data line, which is connected to the OLED.
