PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase starting speed of a general-purpose personal computer. SOLUTION: When a second boot code and second boot strap loader of an external storage device or internal storage device are executed in an original first processing mode by a BIOS-INT 13 of the general-purpose personal computer, the personal computer is initialized by the second boot strap loader so as to start in a second processing mode at a higher processing speed than the original first processing mode.
