A position recognizing system of an automatic mobile robot is provided to detect the present position of the robot accurately, and to control the robot by sensing a mark embedded in a floor using a detection unit. An automatic mobile robot includes a driving wheel, a driving motor for operating the driving wheel and a body case embedding parts, and travels on a floor(200) according to specific pattern. A magnet is inserted to the floor, and a magnetic sensor is formed in a lower part of the body case of the automatic mobile robot to detect the present position of the automatic mobile robot by detecting the magnet. The magnet includes a middle part(300) installed in the middle of the floor to indicate a center, and an outer part(310) installed at an edge of the floor to alarm the moving limit for preventing the automatic mobile robot from being bumped into a wall. The magnet is variously arranged according to the purpose or the place.
