PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk device which achieves stable recording to a DVD by performing recovery processing in consideration of recording in a Video mode without preparing large capacity of semiconductor memory when an error occurs during recording in the Video mode. SOLUTION: The optical disk device 1 is equipped with; a pickup head 2 which performs recording/reading of data to/from an optical disk 100; a recording and reproducing circuit 3 such as an RF amplifier; an encoding decoding circuit 4 which is an encoding means; a servo circuit 5 which forms a driving signal; a driver 6 which performs servo control; a thread motor 7 which is a means of movement; a spindle motor 8 which rotates the optical disk 100; a power supply 9 which supplies current to each part; an operation unit 10 where a reproducing or video recording key is prepared; a display part 11 which displays information; a control part 12 which controls a main part of the device; a buffer RAM 13 which is an update storing means; and a A/D-D/A circuit 14 which performs A/D conversion or D/A conversion.
