A geographical information anchor tag apparatus of a mobile terminal and a method thereof are provided to allow a user to easily check whether the current location is an accurate location by enabling site photo information, stored in a URL(Uniform Resource Locator) address, to be downloaded. A mobile terminal(100) checks GPS location information and geographical information, captures an image of a site and uploads it, or downloads a photo of a selected anchor tag. A base station(120) forms a service area in which it is wirelessly connected with the mobile terminal and communicates with it, and wirelessly transmits/receives the GPS location information, the geographical information, and the site photo information. A GPS(110) of an artificial satellite is wirelessly connected with the mobile terminal(100) and broadcasts location information according to a GPS method. An MSC(Mobile Switching Center)(130) is connected with the base station(120) and establishes a communication path with a server(140) that provides the geographical information and the site photo information according to a call connection request. The server(140) is connected with the MSC(130), searches and outputs geographical information corresponding to applied GPS location information, and uploads the site photo information to a URL address connected with an anchor tag or downloads it.
